Age-Limit Policy for Sunday Morning Classes
Infants - 3 year olds
In order to keep our class sizes managable and developmental levels more compatible between children in the same
class, we abide by an Age-Limit Policy at Park Forest Baptist Church. This policy is for infants - 3 year olds
ONLY and applies to both Sunday School and Children's Church classes alike.
The policy is as follows: When your child has a birthday we request that you move your child up to the next
age-level class ON THE FIRST SUNDAY of the FOLLOWING MONTH (i.e. Your child's birthday is in April, you move them
up on the first Sunday of May). If you happen to miss church on that first Sunday after your child's birthday then
we ask that you wait and move them up on the first Sunday of the NEXT month (i.e. Your child's birthday is in April
and you miss the fist Sunday of May, you wait and move them up on the first Sunday in June). This is to insure our
teachers' awareness and peparedness for new students arriving in their class.
We consider it your responsibility, as the parent, to emotionally prepare your child for the change of rooms,
classmates and teachers. If we can assist you with this delicate task don't hesitate to contact us.
Infants will be moved up to 1 year olds when they begin walking and it becomes unsafe for the non-walkers. This
decision is up to the discretion of the Infant Caregivers; they will contact parents when a move becomes necessary.
The 4 year old class becomes a "holding tank" and children Kindergarten - 5th Grade are promoted on a given Sunday
each fall.
Please note: Once your child moves up to the 4 year old Children's Church class, you will need to take then TO THE
CHURCH SERVICE WITH YOU each Sunday until all of the grade school children are dismissed from the morning service.
The 4 year old - 5th grade Children's Church classes begin at that time. Children are typically dismissed to
Children's Church during or after the offering; however, dismissal of children age 4 - 5th grade will be clearly
announced on any given Sunday.
