Matthew 21:1-11

All four gospel writers include the story of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem on the Sunday before he would be crucified on Friday later that week. This was Jesus’ parade into Jerusalem whereby the means by which he rode in and by the praises of the people, Jesus was fully declaring his identity, that he is the promised King of the Jews, and he is the King of all creation. The purpose of this story is to get us to answer the question, “Will you receive and follow him as King?”  Jesus is the King of all Creation who humbled himself and came to die and give his life as a ransom for us. Have you fully surrendered your heart to him today and received him as the King of your life?  What other king do you know that would die so you could live?  We will explore this in this message and how do we now live for this King who died for us.

James 5:13-20

March 17, 2024

James closes out his letter by giving his readers a challenge to be people of prayer and a final challenge to reach out to the wandering believer. This is a great reminder that as Christians we are people who pray and know that God answers prayer. We also are to care about our brothers and sisters when they wander away from Christ. We need to pray for them and do everything we can to lead them back to walking in relationship with God. While this passage has some of the toughest verses in the New Testament to interpret with certainty, we still come away greatly encouraged by God to be individuals and churches who know it is greatly worth it and vital for us to come to God in prayer.
